Left History Call for Papers
Left History is an open access peer reviewed journal published bi-annually out of York University, with an editorial board of prominent left historians. We feature articles, review essays, and book reviews from a diverse range of scholars, including graduate students, early-career scholars, and well-established scholars.
Left History invites original submissions on a wide range of topics for our upcoming Fall/Winter 2023 Issue. Left History regularly includes articles from a spectrum of academic disciplines, political perspectives, and theoretical approaches, on topics including race, politics, social movements, human rights, gender/sexuality, culture, labour, the environment, theory, and methodology.
Article length should range between 6,000—10,000 words, or around 20—35 double-spaced pages. We accept book reviews of recent publications (within the last two years) and we also accept review essays which analyze three or more recent books that are linked thematically. Please contact the editors if you would like to submit a longer piece or want to discuss any special circumstances. Please submit an electronic version of your manuscript as a Word.docx file, and include a brief abstract, not exceeding 250 words.
